Funding for attending the 2017 IVSA Symposium!

Are you interested in attending the IVSA Symposium this December in South Africa but unsure how you might be able to afford the trip? SAVMA’s International Veterinary Exchange Committee is now offering TWO different grants available for this trip!

The first grant is specifically for students who are interested in only the IVSA Symposium in South Africa this December and is open to 1st through 3rd year students. Read more about this grant below:

This $2500 award is for one student to cover travel and registration expenses.The position is open to all SAVMA members excluding current 4th years (5th years in a five-year program) due to the requirements of the position. In order to apply for this scholarship, you must have already applied to and have been accepted as a delegate to attend the 2017 IVSA Symposium in South Africa. This application is for the chance to attend the IVSA (International Veterinary Student Association) Symposium in South Africa. This is a fantastic opportunity to represent SAVMA and your veterinary school at an international event.  You will receive the opportunity to explore an international vet school, international medicine, as well as some unique cultural events associated with the hosting country.  If you have any questions, please email SAVMAIEO@gmail.com or ivecscholarships@gmail.com.

The second grant available is for students who are interested in not only attending the IVSA Symposium in South Africa this December but also the next IVSA Congress this summer in Poland! This grant will only be available to 1st and 2nd year students, as 3rd year students will enter into clinics by the time of the 2018 IVSA Congress next summer. Read more about this grant below:

66th IVSA Symposium in South Africa

The International Veterinary Students Association (IVSA) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization founded in 1951. The mission of IVSA is to benefit the animals and people of the world by harnessing the potential and dedication of veterinary students to promote the international application of veterinary skills, education and knowledge.

This winter, IVSA will be holding it’s 66th IVSA Symposium in the beautiful country of South Africa! The theme is “The BIG FIVE OF VETERINARY MEDICINE”. The event will focus on five main areas of importance, namely: wildlife, equines, production animals, small animals and humans.

Symposium Dates: December 9th – 19th, 2017
Applications close: September 16th at 7pm EST!
